Job Description
Role Overview:
As a Software Development Manager at Rival Insurance Technology, you will be responsible for leading the software development team to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our business. You will oversee the development processes, ensuring the effective implementation of project objectives, and maintaining alignment with the product owner's backlog items within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Responsibilities:
Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects. Ensure that the team adheres to software development processes, timelines, and quality standards.
Backlog Management: Work closely with the Product Owner to prioritize and deliver backlog items efficiently. Ensure the development team understands the requirements and scope of each backlog item.
SDLC Implementation: Implement and refine software development lifecycle processes to enhance productivity and ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the QA team to establish protocols that ensure the delivered software is reliable, meets the end users' needs, and is free of significant bugs.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key liaison between the development team, product management, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project status and challenges.
Innovation and Improvement: Promote and implement innovative solutions and technologies to improve software development practices and outcomes.
Security Protocols: Develop and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with privacy laws.
Performance Optimization: Continuously analyze and improve the performance of software applications, ensuring they are optimized for speed and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies and lifecycle, including Agile and Scrum frameworks.
Understanding of DevOps/CI/CD.
Proven experience in managing software development teams and delivering complex software projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams and senior management.
Proficient in programming languages relevant to the organization’s technology stack.
Experience in budgeting and resource allocation.
