Virtual Infrastructure Specialist

Hybrid/Remote/Onsite This is a permanent, full-time position located in LaSalle QC, Halifax NS, the National Capital Region or Victoria BC. The position provides the opportunity to work either on-site or in a combination of on-site and remote working, with some on-site work required. The primary client is the Royal Canadian Navy .
As part of the Naval Information Technology Infrastructure and Communication Group, the Virtual Infrastructure Specialist will support and contribute to ongoing and future complex IT projects and initiatives as a subject matter expert.
The individual will play an instrumental part in the determination, design and delivery of technology in a number of key and emerging areas that are of high interest and focus within the RCN. You will interact with clients, Department of National Defence (DND), IT personnel, RCN stakeholders, and internal group members involved in both project delivery and operational support.
The individual will translate key business and operational requirements into traceable technical solutions and be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, the decisions and technical deliverables to a variety of audience members. This role is highly technical and requires the creation of written artifacts. Given the seniority of this role, the individual will be expected to collaborate with the technical project teams, challenge technical choices, make decisions based on technical information, and manage technical work packages that necessitate hands-on experience with technology, tools and software.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:
Eligible to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which requires Canadian citizenship and 10 years of residence in Canada (MANDATORY). Please note all offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining a government of Canada security clearance to the level required by the function. The candidate must be a Canadian citizen and have lived in Canada for a minimum of 10 consecutive years.

Interact with clients and business/technical stakeholders to understand, extract and develop project requirements (functional, operational, performance, security, etc.);
Produce architecture, design, requirements, technical, and reference diagrams/documentation in accordance with the group’s style using established templates;
Support project coordinators by helping to identify technical and other risks and changes;
Execute technical Work Packages;
Participate in internal and external reviews, acting as a facilitator and technical translator for non-technical audiences;
Conduct peer review of technical outputs from the team;
Prepare and present technical presentation material to internal and external audiences with varying technical knowledge;
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: You are seen as a leader in your field by your peers. Industry certifications such as VCTA, VCP, VCDX, AWS are an asset;
You have an understanding of project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes;
Demonstrate extensive technical work experience in the following technologies: Virtualization (VMware ESXi; vCenter, vSAN and NSX-T); Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (Citrix XenDesktop); Hyper Converged Infrastructure; Hybrid cloud (AWS);
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the following technologies: Active Directory Domain Services, DNS and DHCP; Linux (Rocky, Alma, RHEL); Microsoft Server operating system; Cross domain solutions; Automation through vRO, vRealize, PowerShell, and Ansible; and IP networking.
Demonstrated experience working well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in complex environments;
