Under the direction of the Site Operations Manager, the Planner is responsible for creating, maintaining and publishing maintenance plans that meet DFJ Service Network operational needs while maximizing yield and reduce costs. The Planner plans and schedules both short and long-term maintenance requirements while working closely with our customer and internal cross-functional teams. Develops work packages by taking into account specific requirements such as maintenance skills, tooling, materials, available man-hours, and down-time. Provides feedback on compliance and inspection programs by monitoring, analyzing, communicating and elaborating individual customer projects into executable game plans that can be handed off to Operations for execution.
- Maintains current database of work center capacities, shifts, and manpower requirements for jobs and projects.
- Performs "simulated" and "what if" capacity planning for Sales as needed.
- Develops and sequences tasks utilizing flow charts in order to efficiently accomplish the aircraft maintenance work scope.
- Recommends possible solutions to capacity problems to Customer Program Management and Operations Management (special shifts, contractors, etc.)
- Identifies material requirements on sold work packages and orders accordingly based on JIT (just in time) principles. Tracks and reports any material delivery issues to all departments prior to aircraft arrival.
- Defines, monitors and revises standard resource requirements such as tooling, technical data, labor hours and materials for tasks associated with maintenance activities.
- Assembles the work order package including but not limited to maintenance forms, inspection forms, service bulletins, checklists, technical data and engineering.
- Communicates with customers, vendors, maintenance operations managers and various other department managers to support customer needs as required.
- Assist Sales in determining special lead time or down time requirements for proposed projects; provides data input to support preparation of sales proposals.
- Provides Gant Charts to Sales, P.M.'s or A.O.M.'s for proposals and planning.
- Monitors actual performance vs. planned performance by work center, to keep capacity planning current.
- Observes company rules and regulations and safety policy as they apply to the Planning and Scheduling Department.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Business school education or equivalent. (Associate Degree desired).
- Five (5) years direct broad experience in aviation.
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Ability to organize and follow multiple complex projects.
- Mathematical competency.
- Strong personal computer knowledge, to include MS Office and scheduling software experience required.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to use quantitative data in a labor scheduling model to assist management in resolving complex decision making situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
