Job Summary: Participates in the work involved in the planning, development, acquisition, configuration, enhancements, implementation, and lifecycle of complex infrastructure domains. Provides functional support, technical guidance, and advice in areas of Network and IT Security technologies both on premise and externally hosted.

Key Accountabilities:
Conduct feasibility studies, estimating costs, time, and personnel requirements, conducting cost-benefit analyses. Contribute to the development of specifications, standards, evaluation criteria and participate in the evaluation of complex solutions (in-house or commercial).
Gather and analyze requirements, contribute to detailed plans, system architecture, designs and specifications for the provision and implementation of infrastructure systems and technology solutions to meet business and/or operational, technical, security, protection, and safety requirements.
Develop, configure, enhance, update, test and implement (including automation of) system and subsystem infrastructure components and technology solutions.
Provide technical documentation of infrastructure system and subsystem architecture and designs, specifications, processes, test cases and scripts. Provide documentation, training material and change management support in transitioning software, systems, and technologies into operation.
Develop modifications to existing infrastructure systems and technology solutions to rectify deficiencies, meet new business and/or operational requirements, maintain operability, reliability, security, configuration management, improve performance, or reduce costs in accordance with Technology Departments standards and procedures. Ensure service levels are met.
Job Requirements:
Education/Occupational Certification:
Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems, and at least 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience designing, testing, and implementing network and security infrastructure projects of varying complexity.
3-5 years of related work experience in the Network and Firewall infrastructure domain.
Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of infrastructure systems and technologies in one or more infrastructure domains (Network and Firewall).
Knowledge of the design, support, lifecycle and industry trends for a subset of Wide Area Network (WAN), Metro Area Network (MAN) and Local Area Network (LAN), IPSec and SSL VPN connectivity, Network Virtualization technologies, Data Center network technologies, Firewall technologies.
Knowledge of modern system life cycle processes, practices, and techniques, including Agile, Scrum and DevOps.
Knowledge of system and software configuration management, change management processes, practices, tools, and techniques.
Knowledge of cybersecurity considerations in infrastructure technologies, systems, and services.
Knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
Abilities:
Skill in analyzing specified business and operational requirements to determine how these can best be met within the limitations of time, budget, and staff resources.
Skill in detecting, analyzing and correcting system and service deficiencies and/or recommending new actions/process improvements.
Skill in professional discussions with internal customers, stakeholders, and management and with external consultants and industry to ensure that important aspects are not overlooked.
Skill in writing clear, cohesive, and concise documentation that is easily understandable by colleagues, management, stakeholders, and customers.
Skill in communicating clearly in conversation and in presentations to both technical and non-technical staff and management.

This position is based at the Ottawa TSC location but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
