Overview The Safety Coordinator position at Chestnut is a pivotal role responsible for implementing and overseeing safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both staff and clients. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and conducting thorough facility reviews. Responsibilities Implement and document comprehensive safety systems covering incident reporting, environment of care monitoring, infection control practices, and emergency preparedness/response. Foster a culture of safety by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating relevant processes in collaboration with leadership. Provide input on safety and risk management policies and procedures, ensuring their review and maintenance. Develop and execute a safety work plan and reporting calendar, leading safety-related committees and producing critical reports. Ensure compliance with external safety and risk management standards and regulations, serving as an internal subject matter expert and consultant. Conduct on-site facility reviews, participate in accreditation visits, and maintain required licenses and certifications. Oversee compliance with CLIA waived testing requirements and serve as Chestnut’s food sanitation manager. Act as a liaison with community partners on safety and emergency preparedness matters. Hire, train, and supervise Quality Improvement Clerks, providing regular briefings to supervisors on pertinent safety issues. Promote the organization's recovery values and culture of customer service excellence while maintaining confidentiality. Qualifications Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in healthcare, environmental safety, or a related field. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with three years of experience in a healthcare setting will be considered. Certification from ServeSafe as a Food Protection Manager is required within nine months of hire. Strong knowledge of safety best practices, familiarity with relevant regulations, excellent computer skills, and effective communication abilities are essential. A valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability are also required, along with the ability to travel between regions and agency locations.
