Job Description
As a Senior Medical Underwriter in the Medical underwriting department at National Bank, you’ll be a specialist in medical insurance underwriting. Your ability to effectively evaluate and interpret diverse information, combined with your experience in underwriting and comprehensive knowledge of insurance and the medical field, will positively influence both client and employee satisfaction and profitability.
Your role:
Assess the insurability of clients applying for loan insurance (life, disability and critical illness) and individual insurance (T10-T20) in accordance with established standards and processes
Manage complex files including post issue underwriting
Write personalized correspondence (request for additional requirements, decisions) and, occasionally, communicating with clients
Meet productivity and quality goals
Support less experienced colleagues through coaching and knowledge transfer
Assist the senior advisor as needed (cosignings and opinion requests, training, quality control, contact person for other departments, etc.)
Contribute to continuous improvement projects
Your team:
As part of the underwriting sector, you’ll be on a team of 7 colleagues, and you’ll report to the underwriter's manager. Our team stands out for its underwriting expertise, medical and insurance knowledge, collaboration with other teams and its dedication to workplace well-being.

Note that this position is 100% remote with the exception of coming into the office once or twice a month.
Prerequisites:
College diploma
Minimum of 5 years in underwriting with ALU exams 1 and 2 or 7 years in underwriting
Analytical, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Coaching skills
Effective time management and prioritization
