Sumner Learning Campus houses both Sumner Middle School and Sumner Memorial High School, fostering a community of approximately 480 students spanning grades 6 through 12. Our focus at Charles M. We are seeking a team oriented, collaborative, energetic, and creative science teacher. This full-time position will begin with the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates should have a solid understanding of instruction and interactive best practices to enhance science learning. In addition, the candidate will be a strong team member, be flexible, have strong instructional and class management skills. This ideal candidate will have a certification, and/or the ability to obtain certification, in both Life and Physical science.
The successful candidate will hold or be able to hold a Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification: 350S (6-12 Physical Science); and/or 395S (6-12 Life Science). In addition the candidate must hold, be eligible to hold or be able to obtain a Maine Educator Certification with a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education. Responsibilities: - Develop and deliver engaging science curriculum for middle school students.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports students' academic and social growth.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and other teachers to enhance instructional practices and school-wide initiatives.
- Utilize innovative teaching methods and technology to inspire and motivate students.
- Participate in school-wide activities and contribute to the development of school culture.
- Provide feedback and support to students to help them achieve their best.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Valid teaching license for middle school science (or ability to obtain one).
- Previous teaching experience is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and BARR (Building Assests Reducing Risks) is appreciated but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
