JOB TITLE: Teacher, K-12
n
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
n
n- Plan and organize the learning activities of the class with due regard to the individual differences and needs of the students.
n- Consider the individuality and culture of each student, and adopt teaching strategies suited to each child's educational needs.
n- Maintain, in cooperation with the Principal and colleagues, good order and discipline in the classroom and school premises, consistent with the Meskwaki Settlement School Disciplinary Policy.
n- Ensure a positive and secure school climate to enhance overall learning and student achievement. Nurture the conviction that all students can learn.
n- Prepare daily and yearly plans for all curricular activities of the class.
n- Develop and maintain a daily program chart and record of students as it pertains to other classroom programs (i.e. Chapter 1, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, etc.)
n- Prepare and display a schedule of all curricular activities of the class.
n- Evaluate each child's progress and plan instructional methods accordingly.
n- Maintain and keep all necessary records for each student.
n- Keep records of attendance of students to be reported daily.
n- Cooperate with colleagues and administration, in program development and teaching activities.
n- Initiate motivation and a positive atmosphere for the utmost learning of each student.
n- Report regularly to the parent/guardian in regard to their child's progress.
n- Administer discipline in accordance with the Board Policy of the Meskwaki Settlement School.
n- Attend regularly all meetings of the staff convened by the Principal.
n- Carry out supervising responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
n- Create and assist with extracurricular activities.
n- Create and assist with Cultural activities.
n- As needed, serve on the curriculum committee to help achieve a curriculum that is beneficial to the Meskwaki Settlement School. This will serve the intellectual, cultural, physical, social, and emotional development of each student.
n- Provide daily supervision, guidance, and work as a team with teacher associates.
n- Monitor student behavior and initiate corrective action as required.
n- Take training in programs that are necessary for the well-being of each child (i.e. First Aide, Blood born pathogens, CPR)
n- Will be directly responsible and be under the direct supervision of the Principal.
n- Follow the teacher's Code of Ethics.
n- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
n
n- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree and Certification required by the Bureau of Indian Education and the State of Iowa.
n- Must pass a background check per Public Law 101-630, Public Law 101-647, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
n- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Salary: The minimum annual salary is approximately $44,133.44. Candidates will be placed on a salary schedule in accordance with education and experience.
n
Applicants will be required to submit to a background check and to a pre-employment drug test.
