Job Description

The Driver is responsible for transporting CareMax member/patient to and from medical appointments, events, etc., in a professional, ethical, safe, and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the transportation services excellently to any member/patient, in any zone, at any date and time scheduled by the Dispatchers in the respective routes, and using any vehicle assigned by the Base. This means that the driver has no specific member/patients assigned to transport permanently, nor specific transportation zones and/or permanent Operation Bases; neither work schedules or vehicles permanently assigned; driver will work according to the needs of the transportation services and should be able to work overtime if needed.
  • Coordinate daily appointment schedule with Dispatchers, center's personnel, and members/ patients. Communicate in advance to members/patients the pickup time.
  • Assist members/patients in and out of vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical, and courteous manner to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain updated the driver logs on daily basis.
  • Maintain a proper, professional, and constant communication over the phone and in person with Dispatchers and Base Manager, to report any general issue, delay, accident, incident, cancellation, change of route, etc., throughout the day. Never start or end the daily work shift without the previous knowledge and proper authorization from the Base Supervisor.
  • Maintain in good conditions the assigned transport vehicle, including at the start of the work shift, conducting a proper daily inspection on the vehicle assigned, regarding mechanical conditions, safety issues and cleaning; and, complete the "Log for Daily Vehicle Inspection", in order to be delivered to the Base Supervisor. The assigned vehicle must be filled with gasoline every afternoon at the end of the shift.
  • Prevent any unnecessary spend, keeping high standards on the caring, preservation and maintenance of the company resources.
  • Comply with all Federal and State Traffic Laws; as well as with the Department policies and procedures; including never leave the scene of a vehicular accident and/or incident of any nature without proper authorization from Dispatchers or Base Manager.
  • Pay any traffic ticket, etc., in a timely manner and always before the due date; providing proper proof of the payment receipt, if requested by the Supervisor
  • Support and enforce company philosophies, objectives, decisions, strategies, work instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks which may be assigned by Base Manager, according to the needs of the transportation services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS
  • High School or GED required.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's License for a minimum period of 12 months and good driving record; should not have had two (2) or more moving violations or one (1) accident, where the driver is at fault, during the previous twenty-four (24) months. Driver should not have had his driver license suspended or revoked in the previous three (3) years.
  • The ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural levels, ethnic and age groups.
  • To excel on customer service excellence.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Possess superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Geographic knowledge of transport areas.
  • Able to operate a computer and the needed software to handle the transportation programs.
  • Bi-lingual preferred having the ability to communicate clearly in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to effectively present information in on-on-one situations to members and other employees of the company.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Passing successfully the mandatory trainings, background screenings and drug tests, in order to meet the requirements from federal and state laws, as well as the Medicaid Reform Act and HIPPA and ACHA requirements.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or graphic form.
  • Ability to apply common sense when handling diverse situations with members/patients, other employees, and Supervisors, as well as in the daily transportation operations.
