Title: HVAC Technician
Basic Function: The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing air conditioning and ventilation equipment, designing and installing ducts and duct fittings, completing necessary paperwork, adhering to company procedures, and following safety protocols.
Minimum Skills and Abilities: - Valid driver's license.
- Skilled in performing mechanical maintenance, including inspecting, repairing, installing, and modifying heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
- Capable of performing preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
- Proficient in diagnosing defects and installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC and refrigeration units.
- Ability to operate specialized tools and machinery used in the repair, installation, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Works well independently and cooperatively with others.
- Able to manage schedules and meet deadlines.
- Able to maintain routine records and prepare reports.
Essential Duties and Job Functions: - Install HVAC systems, including ductwork, fasteners on hangers and ducts, and insulation.
- Apply insulation materials to pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems to maintain temperature control.
- Assess job sites and set up equipment prior to starting work.
- Repair or replace defective parts in HVAC units, including thermostats, switches, fan controls, compressors, filters, and safety valves.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including welder torch, vacuum pump, and test equipment; ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working condition; manage inventory of parts and tools.
- Perform skilled electrical maintenance related to HVAC equipment, including repairing and installing timers, motors, wiring systems, and connecting motors to control panels.
- Install and calibrate HVAC systems, including copper tubing, and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
