Pay and benefits for employees represented by a union are outlined in their collective bargaining agreement.nnPosition Purpose:nnResponsible for safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials from the customer site to the appropriate designated sties using van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off frames, or other waste carrying equipment. Ensures that the condition of the material packaging meets the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications, inspects manifests and shipping paperwork for accuracy, and maintains current transportation permits for all areas traveled. Abides by all regulations set forth by DOT, EPA, state, and local governments, and VES-TS policies and procedures.nnPrimary Duties/Responsibilities:nnPerform daily inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure safety and integrity of equipment goin to designated sites.nnPrior to transporting materials reviews shipment records, manifests, container labeling, vehicle placards, and integrity of loaded drums, roll-off boxes or bulk tankers.nnEnsure that DOT requirements such as load weight limits, driver log books, Vehicle Inspection Records, transportation permits, insurance cards, fuel trip reports, IFTA fuel stickers, or other paperwork is up to date and valid.nnConsults with customers pertaining to load conditions, drum counts or paperwork inconsistencies to ensure that materials can be properly transported to designated site(s).nnNotify immediate supervisor of any moving violations and/or accidents in-route to and/or from sites.nnAssist in the loading/unloading of materials at designated sites utilizing approriate equipment.nnResponsible for assisting with housekeeping as required.nnOther duties as assigned.nnQualificationsnnEducation/Experience/Background:nnHigh School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.nnPrior commercial driving experience required.nnKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:nnFamiliarity with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations pertaining to the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.nnStrong team player.nnExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.nnTime management: the ability to organize and manage multiple taskes.nnStrong customer service orientation.nnRequired Certification/Licenses/Training:nnValid Class A, B, or C Commercial Driving License (CDL) as required.nnHazmat (H) endorsement required.nn40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.nnPhysical Requirements:nnContinuos sitting throughout the day with occasional standing, walking, twisting, bending, climbing/working aloft, and reaching above shoulder level.nnOccasional fine-finger movements and eye-hand coordination.nnModerate noise level.nnMust be able to handle hazardous materials when handling drums and waste sampling.nnFrequently lifting up to 20 lbs and occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs.nnContinously works indoors with occasional exposure to weather conditions.nnMust be able to continously use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, apron, Tyvek coat, and a full face respirator.nnAdditional InformationnnWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer!
