Description
The Substitute Preschool Teacher is responsible for the daily operation of the KANA Preschool program when the primary Preschool Teacher is unavailable. This program is designed to enrich preschool children's creative and educational experiences. Our village preschools use the Read It Once Again Curriculum, which emphasizes language, social, and communication development. Other key areas addressed include cognitive, auditory, social, sensory, and motor skills (both gross and fine). This curriculum focuses on learning through repetition and exposure to concepts over time, meeting the children's and their families' unique needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans individual and group activities to support language, social, and motor skills growth, including listening to instructions, social play, and using play equipment.
  • Teaches children personal cleanliness, self-care habits, and responsibility for their belongings, such as clothing, toys, and books.
  • Serves healthy snacks, ensuring allergy accommodations when necessary.
  • Follows and implements the lesson plan created by the Primary Teacher for each class session.
  • Submits timesheets, activity reports, and attendance records to the Workforce Development Specialist in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and documents each child's progress, providing feedback to the Primary Teacher
  • Uses available materials to offer a variety of active and passive learning opportunities.
  • Ensures the security of the school facility after each session.
  • Provides a safe, nurturing environment for all children.
  • Provides support to the primary instructor when needed.

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
