JOB DESCRIPTIONnJob SummarynOptical Alignment Technician is responsible for performing precision alignment tasks using various optical alignment tools, including Theodolites, Precision Levels, and laser alignment systems. Must Plan, lay-out and perform all types of mechanical equipment setting, installation, alignment, and maintenance work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.nKey ResponsibilitiesnMaintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.nProduce high quality work, safely and productively at all times.nConduct precision alignment of machines, structures, and components using Theodolites, Precision Levels, and laser alignment tools. This includes equipment setup, calibration, and ensuring high-accuracy readings.nCalibrate and maintain alignment equipment such as Theodolites, laser systems, and precision leveling devices to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements.nAccurately document alignment data, including any necessary adjustments, deviations, or corrections, and provide detailed reports to supervisors or clients.nAnalyze engineering blueprints, schematics, and alignment tolerances to plan and execute precise alignment activities.nExecute laser alignment on rotating equipment (e.g., motors, pumps, shafts) to ensure the equipment operates within design tolerances, thereby improving performance and minimizing wear.nProvide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment and information is available for the work.nLook for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means and methods regarding the work and be willing to learn from others.nContinually seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others.nHigh proficiency in all related trade mathematics.nInspect subordinates work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take any necessary corrective action.nEliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.nMinimum Job RequirementsnMust have a minimum of three years' (level I), four years' (level II), five years' (level III) and six plus years' (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the millwright trade.nMust be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.nPossess effective verbal and written communication skills.nNote: Job Description is subject to change at any time and may include other duties as assigned.nPhysical RequirementsnWork up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.nWill climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.nWill lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basisnRequired to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basisnMust be able to comply with all safety standards and proceduresnMay reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basisnMay stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basisnAbility to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)nMove in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.nMay use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendorsnSafety LevelnSafety-SensitivenNote: Jobs with the Safety-Sensitive designation are those that include tasks or duties that the employer reasonably believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others such as operating a vehicle, operating equipment, operating machinery or power tools, repairing/maintaining the operation of any vehicle/equipment, the handling/disposal/transport of hazardous materials, or the handling/treatment/disposal of potentially flammable/combustible materials.nEqual Opportunity Employer Statement: Sundt Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) that values and respects the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
