SUMMARY The Cutter Operator is responsible for the setup and safe operation of all cutting equipment at different levels of difficulty and ensuring that all items are produced accurately to meet customer specifications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Accurately set up cutters for each job according to supplied specifications.
- Must have the ability to run the cutter while achieving 100% of established speeds with 0 quality failures.
- Must complete jobs with 100% accurate quantities prior to packing and sending jobs from the cutter.
- Ability to multitask between jobs as needed to ensure that all material is taken care of and ready to be sent to the next destination.
- Must present any questions/concerns that arise prior to the job starting to the Operator, Manager, or Supervisor on duty.
- Accurately tag every skid/job to ensure material is sent to the correct destination.
- Capture all costs associated with a job utilizing data collection system.
- Compare against blueprints or previous printed sample (if reprint)
- Ensure quality control throughout each run by pulling sheets and checking for any marketing or offsetting.
- Ensure completed jobs are packed properly or are stacked in correct quantities if further finishing is required.
- Follow all Hatteras procedures for processing work through the Cutting Department
- Keep an organized work area while working and when shift is finished.
- Operator will need to do preventative maintenance on equipment according to schedule.
- Compare against blueprints or previous printed sample (if reprint)
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE - Ability to understand the job tickets to avoid any errors and proceed with the job once making sure that everything is ready to begin.
- Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantities.
- Ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up.
- Good knowledge of cutter machine, operation, and set-up practices.
- Knowledge of the operation and function to the other bindery equipment and machinery.
- Good math skills and knowledge of simple computer operations.
- Knowledge of all procedures required to safely operate a cutting machine and associated bindery equipment.
