GENERAL PURPOSE: Responsible for setting up and operating straight cutting equipment (Perfecta, Polar etc.).nnESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:nnSets up and operates straight cutting equipment.nnObserves and monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.nnPerforms troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks as needed including minor repairs.nnLevels the cutting by using different thickness spotting tapes and packing.nnReviews and follows the job ticket.nnPerforms all assigned work effectively and on schedule.nnAccurately follows instructions.nnPerforms quality check and in process inspections, looking for quality issues and ensuring product conforms to quality standards.nnMaintains make-ready and cutting standards.nnFollows all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position and department. Follows established policies, work instructions and safety and environmental guidelines.nnCompletes non-compliance documentation as necessary.nnKeeps work area neat and clean.nnTrains co-workers to set up, operate and use equipment as directed.nnPerforms other job duties as assigned.nnQUALIFICATIONS:nnExperience operating Polar and Perfecta or similar straight cutting equipment required.nnMust have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.nnMust have basic computer skills: (data entry).nnMust have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including additions, subtraction, multiplication simple fraction conversion to decimal and division.nnMust have the ability to read a ruler; must pass ruler test.nnMust pass basic reading test.nnMust pass color vision test.nnMust pass color hue test.nnDemonstrates ability to use samples and materials, such as vinylu2019s, spinjets and approved samples, to verify job accuracy and qualitynnMust possess the following competencies: accuracy, reliability, decision making, time management and self-motivation.nnMust be able to maintain good attendance.nnMust be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.nnMust be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.nnSmurfit Westrock (NYSE:SW) is a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions.
