Job Description AWG truck drivers deliver groceries to retail grocery stores in a multi state region, following appropriate safety procedures when transporting goods, and all Federal and State laws. Drivers will coordinate with the warehouse and the customer to provide excellent customer service.
Benefits include: Company Paid Insurance - Pension KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Will operate a tractor trailer to transport product from one destination to another and returns with either the original trailer or a drop trailer.
- Inspects Tractor-Trailer for defects before and after trips and submits a report indicating the results of this inspection.
- Maintains a drivers' log in accordance with DOT regulations and complies with Federal rules and regulations.
- Check all load related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered.
- Maneuver trucks into loading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Will transport product to location, then assist with unloading product manually or with the use of material handling equipment.
- Report accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles or trailers immediately.
- Safety: Promote a safe work environment ensuring that all department employees are adhering to OSHA and company safety policies. Accident prevention must be considered an inseparable part of everyday operations. Set safety goals annually as part of the career/personal development plan and develop action plans to achieve those goals.
COMPETENCIES: - Have a Class A CDL, clean driving record and insurable driver
- Must be at least 22 years old
- Must have at least 18 months of continuous commercial driving experience
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handing of materials.
- Ability to communicate with people outside the organization, representing the Company to customers, and other external sources in a professional manner.
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
- Ability to hear and respond to safety horns, intercom system and voice communication systems
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS: - Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering said vehicle in difficult situations.
- Dependable --must provide on-time delivery
- Must be able to unload product once it has been delivered. Able to unload and lift cases weighing up to 90 pounds.
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times
- Must be able to work in severe weather conditions; both heat and cold
- Requires prolonged sitting and driving
- Ability to make overnight runs as required by shipping needs
Compensation: Activity Based Compensation. Base hourly rate is $27.53.
