Responsible for assisting with maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the residents, guests, and team members.nnRESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONSnnResponsibilities:nnAs a part of the Sunrise team, supporting our Mission, Principles of Service and Core Values is a fundamental part of this job. The unique responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the essential functions listed as follows:nnGeneral Maintenance Duties:nnResponsible for completing all maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor.nnPerforms general maintenance duties such as:nnFixing wall coveringsnnFixing floor coveringsnnRepairing furniture and fixturesnnPerforming basic plumbing worknnPerforming minor electrical repairsnnRepairing appliancesnnAssists with painting and refurbishing projects.nnPerforms minor building and equipment repairs.nnConducts routine maintenance on all Sunrise vehicles as assigned.nnMaintains all tools and repair parts.nnParticipates in all fire drills and in the community’s disaster preparedness program.nnMechanical Systems:nnAssists with working on heating and air conditioning systems.nnAssists with work on domestic water systems and pumps.nnAssists with work on refrigeration systems, motors, fans, electrical systems, and emergency generators.nnPerforms routine preventative maintenance as directed by supervisor and according to safety regulations.nnHousekeeping Duties:nnPerforms carpet and hard surface floor maintenance.nnPerforms deep cleaning and resident suite ‘make ready’ rooms as assigned.nnAssists with housekeeping functions as needed.nnRisk Management and General Safety:nnPartners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with OSHA/British Columbia Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation requirements, promoting Risk Management programs and policies, and adhering to safety rules and regulations.nnPractices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Lockout Tagout procedures, and infection control guidelines.nnEnsures any cords, carts, equipment, and other hazards are always kept out of the way.nnMaintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents.nnResident Services:nnReviews, reads, notates, and initializes the Daily Log and Maintenance Log to document and learn about pertinent information and actions required.nnPractices positive resident relations and directs resident or family member feedback to supervisor.nnAlways maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information.nnAssists in driving the community vehicle and/or bus as assigned.nnTraining and Contributing to Team Success:nnActively participates as a member of a team and commits to working toward team goals.nnDemonstrates in daily interactions with others, our Team Member Credo.nnCommits to serving our residents and guests through our Principles of Service.nnContributes to the overall engagement programs and processes (customer and team member engagement) including participating in the team member engagement survey and engagement improvement planning workshops.nnAttends regular meetings; Town Hall, Department Team., Cross Over, and others as directed by the Supervisor/Department Coordinator.nnMaintains compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.nnQualifications:nnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.nnOne (1) year maintenance and/or housekeeping experience preferred.nnTechnical school education preferred.nnDemonstrates a general understanding of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical and code compliance.nnMaintains a current applicable driver’s license to drive Sunrise vehicles provided with an acceptable driving record in accordance with applicable regulations and Sunrise policy.nnCompletion of Driver Training may be required and/or certificates available per regulations and laws as applicable.nnPossess a general understanding of OSHA/British Columbia Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation/Equivalent regulating authorities for Quebec, fire prevention, and life and safety regulations.nnAbility to respond to emergency calls outside of scheduled work hours.nnAbility to handle multiple priorities.nnPossess written and verbal skills for effective communication.nnCompetent in organizational and time management skills.nnDemonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.nnAs applicable, all Sunrise team members who drive a Sunrise vehicle must review and sign the Driver job description and understand the key essential duties for safety and regulatory compliance.nnABOUT SUNRISEnnSunrise Senior Living has championed quality of life in senior care for more than 30 years.
