Our client, a large, privately held industry leader in the Greater Grand Rapids area, specializes in manufacturing residential and commercial products. They are seeking a skilled Sr. Quality Engineer to join their team and make an immediate impact. This role is critical to driving operational excellence through quality improvements and QMS initiatives.
The Senior Quality Engineer will take on a hands-on role in driving quality initiatives across production processes. This position is essential to enhancing the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring the highest product standards are met. The ideal candidate will have a background in manufacturing quality and problem-solving and thrive in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and identifying key quality attributes.
- Prepare detailed quality reports and documentation by analyzing failed processes, recalls, stability studies, corrective actions, and re-validations.
- Perform routine analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.
- Track and document quality issues and performance metrics for management review.
- Participate in FMEA development and support updates to process flow documentation and work instructions.
- Conduct end-of-line audits to ensure product and process parameters align with quality standards.
- Gather and analyze data to support Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Distribution teams.
- Provide training and daily direction to quality technicians to ensure compliance with processes and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing quality environment.
- Proven track record in resolving quality issues quickly and cost-effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Expertise in ISO systems
- Working knowledge of GD&T, ERP systems, QMS, and Minitab preferred.
- ASQ certification is a plus.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
