Hospice Administrator


Dignity Hospice, a division of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is looking for a Hospice Administrator. Come lead a Hospice care team that prides itself in providing hospice care services across Ohio. The Hospice Administrator position is based out of our new Indianapolis, location.


PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT


The Hospice Administrator is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and supervision of all aspects of the delivery of patient/family services consistent with Hospice. The role carries responsibility for the supervision of direct patient care services and for the interdisciplinary team component of the Hospice program.


QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION


  • Proven track record as a previous Hospice Administrator.
  • Preferred experience of three years in or in a community health service or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of terminal care with specific expertise in crisis intervention, family counseling, pain and symptom control, and bedside nursing.
  • Demonstrated skill in administrative performance including excellent verbal/written communication skills, knowledge of documentation requirements, and service coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute a supportive and sensitive approach to staff and patient/family needs.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Supervises the planning, coordination, and delivery of patient/family care.
  • Interviews, assesses, and evaluates potential patient/family or delegates responsibility to appropriate staff.
  • Employs qualified personnel and provides for adequate staff education. Ensures adequacy of all staff.
  • Assign each patient/family to appropriate staff member(s), or delegate responsibility to appropriate staff.
  • Conducts regular interdisciplinary team meetings for the development, review, and revision of the patient/family plan of care, including exchange of information, review of problems or unique issues from caseloads, and sharing of professional support.
  • Implements and monitors compliance with agency policy and procedures.
  • Conducts staff meetings for information and staff support as needed.
  • Conducts visits to patients/families as necessary per patient/family needs, staff needs, or for staff supervision.
  • Supervises the maintenance of medical records by assuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance per agency policy and/or licensing regulations.
  • Provides verbal and written performance evaluations for assigned interdisciplinary team members.
  • Promotes the utilization of resources for the benefit of team members, patients, and families consistent with agency policy and procedure.
  • Identifies the need for staff education and assists in the development of in-service programs for interdisciplinary teams.
  • Assists in planning, delivery, and evaluation of volunteers, students, bereavement, and educational/training programs.

Manages the following:

  • Agency’s annual budget, marketing, and expansion of services.
  • Preparation of the agency for State licensure.
  • Preparation of the agency for Medicare certification.
  • Serves as liaison among the governing board and professional advisory board as needed.
  • Monitors the fiscal condition of the agency.
  • Investigate and resolve all complaints.
  • Interprets policies and procedures.
  • Participates in staff selection and oversees the orientation of new personnel.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
