Job Description:


The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining safety, food sanitation safety programs. Maintains reports and verifies compliance. Supervises employees, contractors and visitors by spending a significant amount of time in the plants ensuring all programs and procedures are adequate and being followed. Sustains and improves current behavior based safety programs and policies. Leads and participates in all incident investigations. Conducts internal facility audits and facility self-assessments and develops and tracks corrective actions for audit findings.


Responsibilities:


  • Personally demonstrate a commitment to food sanitation and human safety
  • Develop, analyze and submit reports
  • Calibrate and repair safety equipment
  • Supervise the implementation of policies and procedures
  • Develop and present training for new hires, contractors, and location employees as required
  • Direct employees interaction
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of safety, food sanitation safety supplies
  • Develop and maintain proper document retention
  • Maintain required paperwork such as OSHA 300 logs in compliance with federal law
  • Lead and participate in on-site safety committee

Requirements:


  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the EHS profession, specifically supporting multi-site manufacturing businesses, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, ASP, CSP, CIH or PE designation preferred.
  • Adhere to all OSHA operating and safety standards and company policies, rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment
  • Proven experience with Energy Isolation (LOTO) OSHA standard and compliance
  • Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions
  • Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers
  • Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software
  • Willing to challenge and be challenged in order to effectively partner with all levels of the business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English. Spanish is a plus.
