Buyer
The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of direct/indirect electrical and electronics materials for assigned commodities and suppliers for the Greer, SC facility. Key objectives are to optimize the delivery of customers’ orders by utilizing the appropriate working capital, minimizing purchase cost, maximizing business profits and analyzing product delivery. In addition to daily activities, the buyer will also manage the supply base including contract negotiation and the request for quote process. This role will require a high sense of urgency, strong multi-tasking skills and cross-departmental collaboration to drive improvements in cost, product quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities:
- Lead sourcing activities for assigned direct/indirect commodities and recommend business awards to ensure sourcing recommendations align with Omron’s sourcing strategies.
- Proactively manage the supply base including managing supplier score cards to drive continuous improvement with the supply base.
- Identify market opportunities with a strong understanding of cost drivers for electrical and electronics industry.
- Contract management includes negotiation of terms and conditions to minimize risk to Omron.
- Lead negotiations in support of cost reduction activities including price reduction and cost optimization to ensure department Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are achieved.
- Represents the Omron Guiding Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, partners, customers, distributors, and colleagues.
- Manage supplier material return process facilitating necessary quality improvements from the supply base, and prompt credit issuance to Omron as required.
- Support the order management process by verifying lead time accuracy and data accuracy to meet production and forecasting requirements.
- Regularly communicate status updates and progression to stakeholders at multiple levels of the various business units.
- Responsible for supplier management process ensuring all required supplier documentation is maintained and valid.
Job Requirements:
- 3 years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in:
- Printed circuit board assembly manufacturing, including surface mount technology (SMT), testing (ICT & flying probe), fixturing, wave soldering, selective soldering, and programming.
- Excellent working knowledge of current Electrical and Electronics industry component pricing, ability to analyze pricing and make recommendations.
- Practical experience with inventory management, including inventory relocation and product life cycle.
- Prefer previous Tier 1 or 2 contract manufacturing supply chain industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Supply Chain, Project Management, Business Management, Engineering, or related field from a four (4) year college or technical school.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with statistical process control and basic statistical evaluation methods. Computer database and spreadsheet experience essential.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and work cross functionally with teams in multiple locations and multiple levels.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and effectively present information. Respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and customers.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to take initiative.
- Strong relationship builder, energetic, focused and a highly motivated self-starter.
- Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning and communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
