Lead Design Engineer-(Substation experience required)

Location: Chattanooga, TN

Our client is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join our clients Power Delivery Substation Engineering team. If you have strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of high-voltage transmission substation equipment, this role is for you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team in completing physical substation design projects.
• Ensure the development of high-quality deliverables, including general arrangements, grounding analysis, switchgear design, conduit and cable layouts, and more.
• Maintain project performance standards, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and on budget.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and scoping sessions, while building strong relationships with clients.
• Oversee technical aspects of design, performing QA/QC on deliverables, and ensuring compliance with Mesa quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify areas for process improvements and enhance team efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in 69kV to 500kV physical substation design.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and familiarity with the software used in technical applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage and mentor a design team effectively.

• Ability to foster strong relationships with clients and senior management.
• Experience with generation plant switchyard physical design is highly desirable.
