Job Description

SUMMARY

Seeking a Construction Materials Testing Manager for Dallas, TX to support our clients Geotechnical Engineering practice. The ideal candidate for this dynamic and challenging role will be responsible for the tasks outlined below.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of technical field and laboratory staff.
  • Supervise and execute construction materials testing and inspection projects.
  • Serve as the responsible authority for field and laboratory testing methods and certifications.
  • Approve field sampling and laboratory testing plans.
  • Provide training for staff and project-level personnel.
  • Participate in field and laboratory work as needed.
  • Review geotechnical reports and engineering design drawings prepared by others.
  • Assess lab and field data submitted by team members.
  • Evaluate inspection and engineer-of-record reports.
  • Conduct final reviews of proposals to ensure alignment with engineering requirements.
  • Engage with clients to address technical issues.
  • Collaborate with external engineers and contractors on the construction team.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, geotechnical, and/or structural engineering.
  • Background as a Certified Deputy Inspector, Lab Manager, or Project Manager.
  • Degree in Geology or Engineering preferred.
  • Current lab, field, or professional certifications required.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships and quickly build new client connections.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.
  • Clear communication skills, both in person and via telephone.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for reading printed materials and computer screens.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, and pulling throughout the work shift.
  • Fieldwork may involve tasks like hand-augering, soil sampling, and conducting field soil and concrete tests.
  • Occasional laboratory tasks, including lifting soil samples, moving lab equipment, and sieving soils and aggregates.
