Successful candidates will support the full development life cycle of enterprise software applications, from planning, architecture, design, development, and deployment. The Senior Technical Writer will be expected to work with senior-level managers, systems and software engineers, and architects to gather and synthesize information, create targeted documentation based on DoD governance, compliance, security, and technical requirements.
The candidate will create and update high level program/project briefs for Senior DOD leadership, business documentation for functional stakeholders, and technical documentation for engineering and IT stakeholders.
An understanding of DoD and government security standards and policies are needed to ensure compliant documentation.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical writing and document creation/maintenance experience supporting enterprise information technology programs.
- 2+ years of technical experience with Process Flow Diagrams, Swim Lane Diagrams, and Computer Network Diagrams.
- 2+ years of experience with the definition and use of document configuration control processes.
- Expertise with Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and learn rapidly in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Knowledge of and experience in the cybersecurity domain to include: NIST RMF and security controls as applicable to FISMA and FedRAMP compliant systems. (highly desired)
- Experience in creation and maintenance of system security documentation (highly desired)
- Knowledge of PII, HIPAA and similar data security standards. (highly desired)
- Knowledge of the Salesforce platform or other similar CRM tools (highly desired).
Typical Duties/Abilities
- Work with Technical/Solutions Architects and Business Analysts to translate business, technical, and security requirements into well structured and cohesive documents, following DOD standards and templated.
- Supporting the Program Management Office (PMO) and/or users to address their requests, questions, and concerns.
- Technical writing/creation of formal documentation such as program briefs (slide decks), business/functional documentation, technical architecture and design documentation, and SOPs.
- Define and implement style guidelines and standards for all technical documentation.
- Maintain version control of documentation and maintain company libraries for this material.
- Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineering and operational project teams, end users and other stakeholders to create and maintain high quality documentation including executive level briefings, White Papers, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Training Plans.

Education/Certifications
- BS degree in Communications, Business Administration, English Literature, or related field.
