Quest Safety Products, Inc. established in 1997 in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a fast-growing PPE distributor providing safety products and equipment to the pharmaceutical, utility, and construction industries. Quest is looking for someone who wants to have a hands-on approach to procurement. This person will develop and maintain supplier relationships, strategize best sourcing practices, and maintain domestic and international vendors while maintaining relationships and regulations.
LOCATION: On-site at 5720 W Minnesota Street Indianapolis, IN 46241 (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
SALARY FOR INDIANAPOLIS, IN: Pay starts at $110,000/year. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Build relationships with local suppliers to reduce lead times and ensure stable supply.
- Secure favorable terms and streamline suppliers for better pricing leverage.
- Continuously monitor and assess supplier performance, quality, and lead times; address issues promptly.
- Identify cost-saving measures and mitigate regional supply chain risks.
- Optimize stock levels and ensure timely, accurate purchase orders.
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to forecast demand, ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained.
- Minimize obsolescence and implement strategies to sell or dispose of excess stock.
- Standardize processes and use ERP systems for efficient order management.
- Align purchasing activities with sales forecasts and operational needs, supporting smooth supply chain operations.
- Collaborate to meet delivery timelines for customer orders, especially during high-demand periods.
- Provide regular updates to the leadership team on procurement KPIs, cost savings, supplier issues, and risk management initiatives.

IMPORTANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE NEW PURCHASING MANAGER:
· Reduce backorders on stock items
· Reduce COGS
· Increase inventory turns
· Meet with our top suppliers and understand their programs
· Build strong cross-functional communication between sales and purchasing teams where both are working to support each other
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, supply chain, or a related field; equivalent experience and training will also be considered
· 3+ years of purchasing experience and 2+ years supervisory experience
· Knowledge of commonly used purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures
· Manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines, and interact well with others.
· Maintain product and vendor knowledge
· Build and maintain effective working relationships
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate to advanced MS Excel, ability to manage large amounts of data and
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead a diverse, team-oriented environment
· Ability for some overnight travel to conferences (1-2x/year) and complete 50 hours of training per year at vendor sites
