Role : General Laborers

Openings: 2 (8 more upcoming)

Location : Chicago, IL 60642

Duration : Permanent

Pay: 16-18/hr.

Benefits: Full benefits package; great 401K package

Start Date: ASAP

Reason Open: Company growth

Shifts: 2nd or 3rd shift (2nd: 1 PM - 9 PM M-F; 3rd: 9 PM - 5 AM Sun-Thurs)

Training: First 6 weeks in 1st shift (then move to 2nd or 3rd shift)

Company Overview: This client is a company with a rich history and a strong focus on precious metals refining and copper alloys. They specialize in recovering maximum value from precious metals found in the manufacturing or mining industry. The warehouse takes these metals through several phases: shipping/receiving, melting, welding, reconstructing, and exchange to vendors.


Selling Point: immediately upon hire date, candidate will be eligible to track towards becoming a unionized employee (several additional benefits).


Must Haves:

  • 3 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting or related.
  • Background as a Machine Operator, General Laborer, or Forklift Technician preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the United States (must be USC or Green Card Holder).
  • Comfortable standing, being on their feet, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Reliability - this is their biggest pain point with previous hires.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Comfortable training in 1st shift for 6 weeks then moving to 2nd or 3rd shift.
  • Can pass a criminal state and federal background check and drug test.


Plusses:

Day to Day:

  • Controlling machines and processes.
  • Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment.
  • Draw smelted metal samples from furnaces or kettles for analysis and calculate types and amounts of materials needed to ensure that materials meet specifications.
  • Drain, transfer, or remove molten metal from furnaces, and place it into molds, using hoists, pumps, or ladles.
  • Prepare material to load into furnaces, including cleaning, crushing, or applying chemicals, by using crushing machines, shovels, rakes, or sprayers.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or material.
  • Performing general physical activities.
  • Communicating with supervisors, peers, or subordinates.


Internal Notes:

  • Opportunities for growth into higher level positions with good performance.
  • All PPE will be provided upon hire date (boots, gear, mask, googles, etc.).
