We have an amazing opportunity for the role of Interior Designer in our Dallas, Texas office. In this role, you will serve as an interior designer or interior coordinator working directly with the project team. You will also have direct client contact. This position requires a leadership mindset and a complete commitment to client service to represent the firm, which is an authority in the design and development of K-12 education facilities.
- Facilitate design efforts from the predesign phase, through schematic design and to completion of the design development phase.
- Prepares sketches or visual aids to demonstrate preliminary designs to clients.
- Establish project definition, programming, budgeting, and master plan concepts for educational projects consistent with the school district's long-range programs and needs.
- Determines timelines and project costs and presents accurate estimates to clients.
- Orders or obtains necessary materials, adhering to project and budget specifications.
- Collaborate and develop specific concepts for complex design problems incorporating code compliance and state educational guidelines.
- Provide expert guidance and innovative solutions to meet client needs.
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Proficient in working with industry-standard software including REVIT, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lumion, Enscape, and Microsoft Office.
- Preferred knowledge of K-12 facilities operations and design.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
- Knowledge and implementation of city planning ordinances, building codes, and accessibility standards.
- Maintain professionalism and ability to interact with senior management, external client organizations, and vendors.
- Effectively communicate ideas and concepts to clients, through Digital/3D modeling and hand sketching (both digital and physical ).
- Ability to develop functional space programs, facility budgets, space plans, master plans, and conceptual architectural and interior designs.
- Possess exceptional organizational skills and capable of simultaneously supporting multiple projects and priorities.
- Must have a passion for the creative process of interior design, the ability to problem solve, communicate ideas, be initiative-taking, and have a quality mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design meeting licensure criteria.
- Must be actively pursuing licensure. Current licensure is a plus.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience serving as an Interior Designer or equivalent role
- Preferred knowledge of K-12 facilities operations and design.
- Office Work: Prolonged sitting and/or standing during working hours.
- Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Travel: 25% to job sites to review existing conditions.
