Title: EHS Specialist

Location: Plano, TX

Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Hours: On-Site M-F 8-5

Job Description:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist provides support to the EHS team in ensuring the well-being of employees and promoting a safe and sustainable work environment. The EHS Specialist primarily assists with the ongoing maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS) elements, periodic documentation reviews, and supports the waste management efforts such as monitoring waste collection, waste storage and waste disposal of materials as per customer / Federal, State & Local regulations.

MUST HAVES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the EHS field
  • Specifically withing the manufacturing industry

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the EMS ISO 14001 certification process and its maintenance. Responsible for assigned duties and tasks as defined by the EMS and completing various environmental reports in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate periodic reviews of EMS / EHS documents, SOPs, Work Instructions and forms. Assist with the development, update, peer review and approval of new EMS / EHS documentation.
  • Track the generation of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals for waste disposal, including weekly audits, inventories, and coordination of proper disposal.
  • Assist with updating EHS metrics and dashboards, collecting, tracking, and reporting environmental data in the global EHS platforms, and maintaining SDS management system.
  • Assist with projects to improve site’s environmental sustainability metrics.
  • Support the delivery of EHS training programs, including new hire orientations, specialized training sessions, and refresher courses.
  • Coordinate team inspections and audits of areas to identify and assess potential safety and environmental concerns.

  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Assist with completion of risk assessments and hazard evaluations to identify potential workplace hazards.
  • Participate as needed with EHS committee responsibilities, EHS awareness campaigns and program roll outs.
  • Support supervisors and managers in implementing safety initiatives and fostering an EHS-conscious culture.
  • Act as a resource for EHS-related inquiries, concerns, and suggestions from employees.
