We are seeking a Manager (or VP, depending on experience) to join our team and oversee areas of energy compliance, risk management, and controllership for our national energy transactions. This role will involve collaborating with business partners to ensure the successful execution of our programs and managing both internal and external reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of planning, launching, and executing initiatives in response to identified challenges. They should be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities, excelling in organizational skills, and experienced in designing and implementing programs that involve large, cross-functional teams. This is a high-impact role with significant opportunities for career development and advancement, reporting directly to General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance across our portfolio with all regulations, obligations, and internal policies.
  • Implement processes to monitor and report on compliance metrics, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Manage, track, and report on the status of compliance filings.
  • Develop and maintain a government contract compliance program.
  • Stay informed on evolving technical laws and regulations impacting the portfolio, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Lead assurance and consulting engagements related to compliance efforts.
  • Oversee and manage the implementation of energy-related compliance activities across the nation, working closely with development, EPC, and regulatory teams.
  • Establish, iterate, and monitor operational guardrails for energy operations as part of risk management efforts.
  • Plan and execute initiatives to improve energy operations and reporting.
  • Create, maintain, update, and track documents and data related to executed contracts.
  • Audit and report on compliance with contract milestones and deliverables.
  • Identify and assess potential terms, conditions, and contractual risks, offering recommendations for mitigation strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, energy, paralegal studies, or a related field.
  • JD degree, admission to, and good standing with one or more state Bars preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with an IPP, owner-operator, electric utility, energy supplier, or energy-intensive industrial or consumer company.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial, contractual, technical, and industry standards, as well as legal and regulatory requirements in the energy sector.
  • Experience in compliance or risk management, particularly within the power or energy sectors.
  • Experience mitigating contractual risks.
  • Expertise in U.S. government contracting practices and procedures.
