What you’ll do:
The In-House Counsel reports to the Senior Vice President - Legal and is responsible for legal matters involving evictions, property operations and governmental compliance for our portfolio of Florida properties.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and strategic advice on property operations matters.
- Serve as a key lawyer on eviction and rent recovery lawsuits.
- Attend motion hearings and mediations, conduct depositions and handle non-jury trials.
- Draft and review litigation documents, settlement contracts and related documentation.
- Review applicable Florida and local land use laws and provide operational advice to property managers.
- Collaborate with other members of the law department and internal clients.
- Work with outside counsel on select legal matters.
- Prepare and present on legal issues to senior management.
Experience & skills you’ll need:
- Juris Doctorate degree and admittance to The Florida Bar.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in a mid to large size law firm or State Attorney/Public Defender office.
- Litigation and trial experience is a major plus.
- Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills.
- Meticulous and thorough attention to detail.
- Solid analytical, issue spotting and problem-solving skills.
