We are seeking candidates for the position of Track Machinist 1st Class (1211) in the MOW/Track Department. The starting rate of pay for this position is $35.34/hour. After one year of service, the rate of pay will increase to $39.27/hour. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Lays-out, sets-up, aligns, and performs machine tooling on such items as generator armature shafts, water pump shafts, cylinder blocks, external and internal splines, install bearings in motor and other shop .machinery, cuts. il grooves, keyways, machines, fits and rebush as required. Disassembles, repairs, reassembles, and performs other necessary work on such items as jig , fixtures, machinery, and track related tools. Shapes, turns, mills, bores, grinds, planes, and drills various items for track shop and field equipment. Cuts all types of threads _and re-threads, as required. Sets up all machines for other workers as directed. Fabricates rail expansion joints, frog arms, joint plates, stock rails and similar components pertaining to track shop and field related equipment. Maintains machine parts for electric track switches such as plungers, pins, links, and other castings. Works from drawings and charts to tolerances or dimensions specified. Taps, hones, reams, hand finishes, hand fits, rebush tools, jigs, fixtures, track components and shop machinery. Disassembles, repairs, reassembles and operates as cutting and welding equipment, pneumatic tools, hydraulic cylinders, and similar track related equipment. Calibrates, adjust and test tools as required.' Performs sheet metal work as required. Sets up and operates drill press, lathes, planer, milling machine, grinders, punch press, shaper and other similar machines. Uses hand tools such as precision measuring instruments, gauges and mechanic's Conditions cutters, drill bits, reamers, taps and other machine shop tools. Inspects visually or with gauges to determine extent of repair required. Submits daily work reports to Supervisor in charge and-keeps overall records as required. Requests requisitions and obtains material) as required, uses manuals and parts Drives vehicle. Cleans and clears work area. Directs activities of lower classes. Assists other classes as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Must be an experienced Machinist with experience in the set-up, operation and servicing of precision grinding equipment. Must have the ability to work from drawings and use precision measuring devices. Must possess a valid PA or equivalent Driver’s License. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must pass written tests related to the Machinist craft. Must satisfactorily complete Performance Tests.
