We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsThe GI/Endoscopy Tech is responsible for operating the Endoscopy equipment, assisting the physician and reprocessing of equipment.What you will do in this role:* Knowledge of Endoscopy procedures including EGD, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Anoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound, Endobronchial Navigation, Small bowel Enteroscopy/Balloon assisted IO, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, and all diagnostic/therapeutic maneuvers associated with the above procedures.* Maintain competence of all steps required in the high-level disinfection process for the department.* Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in his/her department.* Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.* Demonstrate knowledge to assess, plan, evaluate, and document care in coordination with the health care team across the continuum* Deliver compassionate, holistic care, while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients* Maintain a safe work environment* Be able to work closely with GI physicians and anesthesiologist and anticipate needs appropriately.* Be able to function in all department rolls efficiently… Endoscopy Tech, Endoscope Reprocessor,* Attend all unit specific competency/education and stay up to date on all new procedures and unit supplies/equipment, complete all Healthstream requirements on time* Have a good knowledge of job responsibilities and assist others when needed* Have a good working knowledge of SGNA and AORN policy and procedures specific to the Endoscopy department* Must maintain current competency of all campus specific processes related to endoscopes utilized and reprocessed within the department* Must maintain current competency related to high-level disinfection process including Rapicide PA, Rapicide, and Cidex OPA.* Be able to prioritize/anticipate needs of anesthesia vs endoscopist when difficult situations arise* Maintain a good knowledge of airway management and airway supplies* Must maintain current competency on all endoscope reprocessing/bedside to hang time tagging procedures per Olympus/AORN/SGNA/HCA/TOSHA/Patient Safety/Medivator recommendations.* Must maintain good knowledge of each procedure room and room specific equipment and location/use of all supplies and know where/how to locate supplies not housed in Endoscopy Lab.* Demonstrate good knowledge of opening and closing of room procedure on a daily basis.* Must maintain hospital policy and procedure with tissue/specimen collections.*What qualifications you will need:* One-year OR experience required* GI/Bronchoscopy experience preferred* BLS required, certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor preferred* High School GraduateParkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times.
