Job Description A warehouse worker is responsible for operating and handling the activities at a designated concession stand, at Vanderbilt University athletic events. The responsibilities may differ slightly depending on the location of the concessions stands, football stadium, baseball fields, basketball arena, etc. Job duties will include, warehouse organization, loading and unloading product, stocking product, food preparation, working directly with customers to sell food and drinks, collecting money and tendering change, and providing excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities: Warehouse duties (60% of time) - Assists with inventory of food, paper products, chemicals, etc.
- Receive and put away all products, use FIFO method of inventory (first in, first out)
- Report shipping/receiving errors to management.
- Unpack boxes, inspect goods, and return unsatisfactory or damaged goods to the wholesaler or distribution.
- Move goods to and from Dining units at the request of management
- Assist with the security and control of all storeroom products.
- Work with management to complete monthly inventory counts
- Assist in setting up and breaking down specific areas for special events - moving tables chairs and assisting with table settings
- Maintains quality control of all products received.
Food Preparation and Customer Service (40% of time) - Welcome guests who approach the concession stand or call out for one (in case of mobile stands)
- Take orders for food and beverages and prepare food items such as sandwiches and hotdogs using
- appropriate quantities of ingredients
- Follow proper sanitation guidelines during food preparation and packing activities
- Perform prep duties on salads, sandwiches and wraps according to customers' requirements and
- instructions
- Process cash payments and tender change, along with ensuring that all received cash is well-accounted for and stored in a safe area
- Participate in the set-up of concession stands, arrange inventory of supplies and communicate shortages of deficiencies to vendors or supplier
- Perform clean-up duties after each shift and ensure that concession stand is sanitized and tidied up for the next attendant
- Handle light bookkeeping duties by creating and maintaining reports of cash received against food and
- beverage items sold
- Clean and maintain food preparation equipment such as grills and ovens on a regular basis
Supervisory Relationships:
This position does have direct supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is necessary
- At least 6 months of food service, warehouse or customer service experience
- Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills and an eye for detail is necessary
- Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service is necessary
- Keen sense of urgency is needed
- Must be able to work a varied schedule, including holidays, nights and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended time periods, up to 6 hours
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist and lift
- Requires frequent lifting/transporting hot food items
- Ability to work in all unit and kitchen areas while interacting with heated equipment, steam, chemicals for cleaning, etc.
