Digital Strategy Specialist
Position Summary
The Digital Strategy Specialist (DSS) is responsible to identify and qualify digital business opportunities for Thales to pursue. This includes positioning Thales solutions with a strong value proposition in order to discriminate our offers as the best solution for the customer to consider and/or finding the right digital partners that Thales can work with in order to win business. The DSS works in close collaboration with the innovation support team, the growth team, industrial partners and supporting business lines to maximize the success of proposing the best digital solution possible. This DSS is also responsible to contribute to the TCDS innovation strategy and roadmap. This requires customer intimacy and engagement at various levels.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Requirements – Plan and direct activities to identify and qualify business opportunities in the domestic markets (commercial or defence), with a specific focus on Royal Canadian Navy opportunities and related joint opportunities (e.g., NORAD Modernization) that are aligned to TCDS growth and innovation initiatives. Meet sales goals for identified opportunities, develop / execute sales plan and monitor performance to ensure that established targets are met and/or exceeded. Coordinate with respective domestic, GBU and BL sales teams and product line managers as needed to develop the Thales Value Proposition and go to market strategy.
Process – Working within the Manage Bid process and Manage Product Lifecycle process, develop strategic alliances and partnerships as needed to achieve the Country Business Unit (CBU) business goals. Analyze and influence customer requirements, standards and specifications to effectively position Thales as the partner of choice for the implementation of digital innovative solutions. Contribute to bids & proposals effort by strategically assessing make-team-buy and writing / reviewing proposal content. Provide direction to the activities of Bids & Proposals department to ensure proposals meet customer requirements and maximize order opportunities. Working within Product Policy and the Manage Bid processes, provides input for process improvements.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Preference given to Engineering or Applied Science in a related engineering field (computers, communications, software).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in innovation strategy / sales in the defence industry with a proven track record.
Min of 15 years’ experience as a member of a Navy (experience with RCN preferred). Combination of operational experience, project management and capability development (e.g., experimentation).
Excellent knowledge of Naval doctrine, tactics and equipment; Excellent knowledge of the Defence Acquisition process; Excellent knowledge of emerging technologies applicable to the Naval market; Preference to established/trusted relationship with current customers.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in business administration (e.g., MBA)
