Working Business Language: This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.
Salary: The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $85,000 - $120,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

This opportunity as an Application Developer will be part of our Core Application Delivery team and will contribute to the success of Wawanesa by maintaining, supporting and enhancing business systems, applications and integrations.
Job Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test software.
Write unit tests for all code.
Prepare technical specifications from requirements.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents.
Participate in planning activities.
Create and update relevant documentation.
Contribute to the improvement of established practices, processes, and guidelines.
Keep current with relevant technologies.
Perform and participate in code reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in software development or equivalent experience.
2 to 4 years of practical experience performing an application development role building software using current programming languages such as Java. Guidewire development (Gosu) experience is considered an asset.
Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize and identify issues and take proper action to resolve them.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with style fitting for the audience and message.
Strong planning and organizing skills, with the ability to develop and implement plans by prioritizing and multi-tasking.
Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-manage a fluctuating workload, with various situations and changing priorities.
Possesses a willingness to learn while keeping abreast of developments in field and have the ability to apply learning to new situations.
Experience using software development tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, Source Code Management and TeamCity is considered an asset.
Knowledge and experience in Insurance industry is considered an asset.
