Job Description
Our Technical Services team in Sault Ste. Marie is looking for an onsite (Senior) Technical Manager, Mechanical to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growth-oriented organization, and organize and direct engineering activities to optimize our wind and hydropower facilities.
The level of this position (Technical Manager or Senior Technical Manager) will be determined on the profile of the successful candidate.

What you’ll be doing:
Assist in managing capital and major maintenance budget preparation;
Ensure the assigned budgeted capital and major maintenance plans meet annual targets;
Provide input and update the 5 year and 20 year capital and major maintenance plan for all Ontario sites – hydro and wind;
Provide engineering advice and develop engineering solutions and supervise the development and revision of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, policies and procedures;
Coordinate the development, design and commissioning of engineering projects and serve as Project Manager for project delivery and implementation;
Manage and/or participate in projects such as managing work, RFP’s, specs and drawings, proposal review and contract award, tendering phase, debriefing, quality assurance and finalization;
Prepare, review, negotiate and finalize contract documents and supervise contract administration to ensure compliance with permits, policies and codes;
Propose improvements and evaluate new technologies to minimize operating costs, risk and potential losses and maximize potential generation;
Manage discussions with the Region System Operator (IESO) and provide recommendations on how to maintain compliance;
Provide mentorship and supervision for a team of project managers and project support specialists

Are experienced in leading an engineering team and managing a portfolio of projects;
Embrace and lead teamwork with a positive mindset;
Possess good knowledge of hydro-electric, solar and wind power generation technologies;
Can collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple concurrent projects;
Possess knowledge and have experience with North American Electrical Reliability standards and management systems
Have experience in field engineering, commissioning and project management;
Possess a strong personal commitment to continuous improvement;
Value excellence in safety and environmental performance;
What you must have:
10-20 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering;
Degree in engineering, and registration as a P. Eng., or eligible for registration in Ontario;
Excellent negotiation, facilitation and leadership skills, discretion and judgement;
Strong verbal and written communication skills and planning, prioritizing and organizing abilities;
Proficiency with Microsoft applications;
Maintain and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license;
Ability to travel 30-40% throughout Ontario required.
