ABOUT THE ROLE Own server-side social products through every step of the development process, from initial design to live game support. Work closely with game designers, artists and other technical groups to implement multiplayer, chat & moderation. Lead the Backend Core team for your project.
WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE Develop High-Performance Systems: Design and implement efficient, reusable backend systems that support multiplayer features, chat functionalities, and moderation, ensuring low latency and high availability for seamless player experiences.
Optimize Performance and Scalability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing database queries, caching mechanisms, and network communication to maintain smooth and reliable gameplay experiences as user scale increases.
Drive Fast, Iterative Development: Lead the team in rapidly delivering new features and updates while maintaining code quality and stability, enabling quick adaptation to evolving game and user needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management and other teams to align technical solutions with product goals, ensuring cohesive and integrated social experiences across different game touchpoints.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Node.js with TypeScript, and experience with AWS services. Hands-on expertise in designing and implementing a microservices-based architecture that utilizes WebSockets, gRPC, and similar communications protocols.
Database Expertise: Extensive knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems, including optimization for data sharing, read/write operations, and scalability.
Live Service Experience: Proven track record in supporting live services, especially in gaming environments, ensuring stability and performance.
Adaptability and Drive: Proactive, self-directed, and eager to learn, with a passion for building scalable, high-quality software systems that enhance user experience.
Collaborative and Quality-Focused : Confidence in producing high-quality work, with an understanding of how design decisions impact performance, and an ability to work effectively within distributed teams.
Experience with Unity and mobile game development is strongly preferred.
Passion for all things gaming is strongly preferred.
