Are you a finance professional with a passion for history and a creative mind that fosters innovative ideas? The Western Development Museum (WDM) is seeking dedicated and experienced individuals to join our Board of Directors. Your expertise in finance can help shape the future of the WDM’s sustainability.
About The Western Development Museum
The Western Development Museum has 5 locations: 4 museums located in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, and Yorkton as well as a Corporate Office, also located in Saskatoon. The WDM has just celebrated 75 years of sharing our history in Saskatchewan. The Board is dedicated to the growth and sustainability of the WDM in a time when discretionary income and public funding are constrained.
Board of Directors
The WDM Board of Directors plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization. Comprising not less than 3, but typically 6 Directors appointed by the Minister of Parks, Culture, and Sport. Our Board is a governance board and holds statutory power and obligations granted by The Western Development Museum Act.
Role and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic financial oversight and guidance.
Assist in the development and implementation of policy.
Ensure the organization’s financial health and sustainability.
Collaborate with other board members to support the WDM’s mission and goals.
Advocate for the Western Development Museum.
Qualifications and Expectations:
A strong background in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Experience chairing meetings.
Experience in financial planning, analysis, and management.
Passion and commitment to supporting the WDM.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Willingness to actively participate in quarterly Board meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes. Meetings are offered in a hybrid format of virtual and in-person.
Please note that Board Members are offered honorariums per meeting ($110 is provided for meetings over 4 hours in length and $55 for meetings that are 2 to 4 hours in length). If travel is required, meal allowance and mileage are also provided.
