Codispoti & Associates, P.C., a small downtown Brooklyn Law Firm, seeks a Full Time Associate Attorney admitted in NYS to work directly with the Partner as well as the Of Counsel attorneys, paralegal and administrative staff. The firm handles transactional and litigation matters in connection with Corporate, Real Estate, Intellectual Property, Estate Planning and Administration.
The salary is $130,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with years admitted. Benefits include Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, Sick Days and contributions to pension plan and health insurance.
The ideal candidate should:
- Have at least three (3) years but preferably closer to five (5) years experience (or more) in at least three (3) of the above areas (whether in connection with litigation or transactional matters).
- Be willing to:
- Work in the office (with 1 day per week remotely).
- Attain 1,400 billable hours per year in order to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
- Have excellent organizational and computer skills including the full functionality of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw and/or LexisNexis and any Law Firm Practice Management software (preferably LEAP Legal Software, but any program that manages matters, documents, calendaring, tasks and billing).
- Engage in marketing and client-development for the firm and themself.
- Be actively involved in a bar association or other civic, charitable or other groups, associations and committees.
- Be ready to start working at the firm on or before December 2, 2024.
The Associate will manage the following matters for which the candidate has experience and then be trained by the Partner on handling the balance of matters:
- Drafting and negotiation of business-related documents such as Partner/Operating/Shareholder Agreements, Employment Agreements, Agreements to Sell a Business, Resolutions, Dispute Resolution Settlement Agreements.
- Drafting and negotiation of real estate related documents such as Contracts of Sale, Leases, License Agreements and litigations related to those matters.
- Drafting and negotiation of Intellectual Property related documents such as Trademark and Copyright Applications, IP licenses and assignments, cease and desist letters and infringement lawsuits.
- Drafting of Estate Planning and Administration documents including Last Will and Testaments and Petitions to the Surrogate’s Court.
- Collaborate directly with legal staff to review and prepare judicial Referee and Receivership related documents, and draft correspondence
- Commercial Litigation documents in connection with the above areas of practice including Pleadings, Discovery, Motions, Memoranda of Law, research legal issues and prepare memoranda & litigation documents
- Attend Court appearances including conferences and motions, conduct depositions and prepare for trial.
- Assist and/or Conduct real estate closings.
- Perform additional law firm administrative duties as needed.
