Summary SUMMARY:Under the general supervision of an Employee Health Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Director, the Employee Health Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), operates under the LVN scope of practice. LVN is responsible for the health and safety of all employees by facilitating the Employee Health Programs which include first aid care, conducting medical surveillance and health screenings, and promoting a safe work environment. Performs other related duties as required. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. 1. Accepts and performs other duties as assigned. 2. Administer medications, including injections, according to policies and procedures in a safe, accurate and timely manner. 3. Communicate with employees and managers to discuss non compliancy with immunization schedule and post exposure follow testing and treatment. 4. Conducts health screenings such as Vital Signs (BP, Pulse, Temp, Respirations), vision screening including color blind screening 5. Demonstrates awareness of adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety. 6. Follows up on staff exposures and coordinates with the Registered Nurse, medical director, CDPH, and/or Infection Control regarding the treatment plan and post follow up requirements according to policies and procedures. 7. Maintains accurate and timely employee health surveillance data entries using current EMR system (Axion). Sends out surveillance reminders as directed and according to policies and procedures 8. May communicate test results only to employees and others at the direction of clinician (RN) and/or Medical Director. 9. Performs phlebotomy, respiratory fit testing, and TB Skin Testing within the scope of licensure according to policy and procedures. 10. Provides other employee health, surveillance and infection control services in keeping within Employee Health and Infection Control policies. 11. Understands mandatory regulatory compliance requirements according to the CDC, APIC, CDPH, OSHA, Cal-OSHA, TJC and other regulatory agencies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Education: Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Preferred Experience: Employee Health or Occupational Health experience in a hospital or healthcare environment. Compliance or Infection Control experience strongly preferred. Required Education: Graduate of an accredited LVN Program. Required Experience: One year of recent experience as a LVN required in one or more of the following areas; (1) Employee Health (2) Occupational Health (3) Emergency and or Urgent Care (4) Acute Ambulatory care. Required Licenses/Certifications: Current California LVN License/BLS – Basic Life Support Certification – issued by AHA – American Health Association, Phlebotomy Certification.
