Travel Nurse (RN)
Position Description
Employees in this classification travel as required providing responsible professional nursing care at a unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice or other unit as assigned. Responsible for the care and treatment of patients following accepted nursing and medical standards and administrative nursing personnel. Supervises other subordinate clinic personnel. Work is performed under correctional clinic conditions; the position requires a high degree of contact with patients, other clinic personnel, and outside professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
Acute care (Med/Surg, ICU, ER) nursing experience; strong physical assessment skills; Ability to communicate effectively with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team; Flexible and dependable, with the ability to adapt to a variety of clinical practice settings. This position will be required to travel to multiple units and work various schedules depending on staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
Current RN License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer the license to Texas, and 5 years of experience in nursing (LVN/RN), with at least 3 years of those years as an RN.
