Job Description
Position Summary:
Parts counter is the initial contact with guest when they call or come into the parts department. Assist guest with locating the appropriate part, gives them pricing and handles payment. Responsible for ordering parts not in shop and assisting techs with parts questions they may have.
Goals and Expected Behaviors:
1.Increase/improve guest retention and loyalty for the entire dealership and company while achieving excellent guest service scores
  • Greet guests, employees and visitors with a smile in a friendly manner
  • Fulfill commitments
  • Assist guests anytime and anywhere in the dealership
  • Insure guests have a surprisingly great experience
  • Act, speak, dress and behave professionally at all times
  • Check in and out parts guests
  • Communicate with guests over phone and in person
  • Work with Sales team to obtain any accessories for newly sold cars
  • Handle parts needs for anyone in the company
  • Look up parts and pricing using Electronic Parts Catalog and Reynolds
  • Recommend appropriate parts to guests, sales staff and technicians
  • Anticipate the guests needs by listening and asking clarifying questions
2.Maintain efficiency of the shop
  • Plan, organize and maintain efficient work flow
  • Minimize distractions
  • Refrain from conducting personal business (Facebook, twitter, texting, phone calls during shop hours)
  • Stock parts and check for parts that need to be ordered
  • Insure there are no overstocked parts
  • Orders parts that are needed in a timely manner
  • Assists guests in a professional and efficient manner
  • Works with others on the team to insure timely and accurate parts delivery
3.Maintain Proper Parts Inventory
  • Place orders for outside auto shops
  • Search for parts and pricing in the market area
  • Place orders for outside dealerships
4.Maintain CSI standards and contribute to overall shop CSI
  • Mentor and assist team members
  • Maintain shop cleanliness
5.Maintain a safe shop and work in accordance to safety standards
  • Lift and carry objects according to safety procedures
  • Wear slip resistant shoes
  • Ask for assistance when lifting and/or carrying heavy objects
  • Keep shop clean and free from slip, trip and other hazards
6.Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions of the Position
  • Answer phone and assist guest with any vehicle parts needs
  • Greet guest when they come into shop and assist with any vehicle parts needs
  • Operate a phone, computer and other general office equipment
  • Work with the public in a professional and guest centric manner
  • Communicate with guests, vendors, managers, and co-workers
  • Listen to guests and understand what they are saying
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions
  • Answer questions regarding vehicles, the dealership and service
  • Know the features of the vehicles and be able to accurately and clearly communicate them to a guest base from a broad range of backgrounds
Skills, Education and Certification Requirements:
  • Moderate computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn other programs
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced Dealership
  • Ability to effectively build a rapport with others
  • General knowledge of vehicles and parts
  • Effectively uses EPC, Reynolds and Dealer Daily
  • Good communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • HAZMAT Certification
Physical Demands
  • Works in a variety of temperatures; periodically exposed to the weather including rain, snow, heat and cold
  • Bends, stoops and goes from a standing position to a squatting position (and vice versa) several times throughout the work shift
  • Pushes, pulls, lifts and carries objects up to 30 pounds frequently
  • Pushes, pulls, lifts and carries objects up to 65 pounds occasionally
  • Uses hands, wrists and arms in repairing vehicles with twisting, grasping and other motions
  • Travels throughout the dealership and lots occasionally on foot and in some circumstances a Company provided golf cart
