Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Performs all duties related to pickup and delivery of patient specimens, delivery of materials and supplies to internal or external AHA customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Pickup and transport coolers of patient specimens from AHA facilities to AHA testing facilities.
  2. Pickup and transport patient specimens from lockboxes at AHA clients.
  3. Pickup and transport patient specimens from Nursing facilities and clients.
  4. Responsible for displaying appropriate helpful, courteous, professional customer service.
  5. Responsible for the safe operation of AHA's vehicle.
  6. Responsible for reporting to work at assigned time, dressed appropriately and ready to work.
  7. Responsible for following all applicable laws while operating a motor vehicle.
  8. Responsible for maintaining an insurable driver's license, free of citations and suspensions.
  9. Adheres to established/scheduled route delivery and pickup schedules.
  10. Pickup and deliver patient specimens, supplies, and materials to the correct location.
  11. Performs/completes daily vehicle checklist, reports deficiency to supervisor or designee.
  12. Removes all debris/trash from vehicle daily; take responsible care and maintenance of vehicle.
  13. Responsible for the use and safekeeping of phone.
  14. Willing to assist in periods of increased activity or to cover other shifts/days as needed and work overtime as needed.
  15. Pickup and/or transport STAT samples.
  16. Perform simple maintenance on vehicles when possible.
  17. Ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate and complete and turned in daily.
  18. Monitor and operate cell phone to ensure all orders are complete and received. Answer phones when called.
  19. Deliver supplies, orders, mail, and other paperwork to clients and employees.
  20. Assist Supply Department, as needed.
  21. Transport supplies/specimens from client to AHA.
  22. Ability to work as a team or individually.
  23. Maintain a professional appearance, greet public in a cheerful manner.
  24. Work holidays, weekends, and health fairs as scheduled.
  25. Is punctual coming to work and completing required duties; consistent in attendance.
  26. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty competently. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma, GED required.
  • 1-3 years' courier driving experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with no restrictions due to law violations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with other team members (written and verbal)
  • Read and interpret documents written in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures and policy manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps for the various routes that may be performed
MATH SKILLS:
  • Math calculations related to counting the number of patient specimens picked up from customers. Math calculations related to supply orders, inventory and expenses is required.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Good judgment and reasoning skills are required.

  • Adapt to variance in vehicular traffic volumes.
