Today, Val-Matic manufactures nine types of air valves and is the leading supplier of air valves in North America.From those humble beginnings, Val-Matic® has become one of the premier valve manufacturers in the United States and is well-respected throughout the world for high quality products and an ongoing commitment to customer service.Val-Matic® is a family owned and operated private company.Description Plans, directs, and coordinates the purchase, stocking, and distribution of production tooling and consumables.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates a strong knowledge of shop inventory, including the item numbers, descriptions, and quantities and provides accurate reports of all tool movement activityMaintains an accurate inventory count and makes adjustments to ensure those counts are correct, including tracking down and returning tools when they're withdrawn in errorConfers with vendors to determine product specifications for tooling, materials, or parts, and assists in evaluation of products according to specifications and quality standardsLeads the evaluation and qualification of vendorsActs as the primary contact for purchasing of stocked items and spot buy purchases throughout the shop and maintains an organized system to ensure the items are received and distributed correctlyProactively searches for cost savings on stocked items to show year-over-year reductions in tooling costsObtains and maintains alternate vendors as required to reduce tooling expenses and provide shorter delivery lead-timesEstimates tooling and related costs to provide information for management and manufacturing engineering decisionsInteracts with engineers, quality, supervisors, production personnel, lead persons, or others to resolve production or business problemsSupports the manufacture of tooling, fixtures, and prototype partsPresets tools for machine tool setups according to the setup sheet and/or manufacturing engineering instructions and delivers the preset tools to the correct machine manually or using a hand truckBreaks down cutting tools into their basic components after manufacturing orders are complete and reconfigures them into tools required for future setups as requiredDrives continuous improvement activities in the tool crib by driving new project ideas and implementationActively maintains a clean and organized 6S work areaQualificationsAssociate degree or certificate from an accredited college in manufacturing technology, engineering, or machining; or equivalent combination of education and on the job experienceExperience and skill in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and ExcelGeneral knowledge of business software (MRP based systems such as Epicor/Kinetic)Able to use the Internet to perform basic researchFamiliarity with inventory tracking softwarePrior experience in tool management and CNC machinery preferredKnowledge of safety regulations and proceduresAbility to lift heavy objectsGood attendance and punctuality recordExcellent organizational and record-keeping skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to negotiate competitive pricing of purchased itemsAble to interpret drawings and use the measuring devices needed to determine product conformance to design specificationsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsDemonstrate the following core competencies (at a minimum): Detail Oriented, Organized, Quality Focused, High Ethics and Dependability, Takes Initiative, and Demonstrates ProfessionalismAbility to work in a fast-paced environment.Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training.Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.Troubleshoot problems and report issues.Physical Requirements:Ability to be on feet for up to 8-12 hours per shift.Use of hands and fingers to perform job function.Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb.Ability to lift up to 50lbs.BenefitsHealth InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceCompany Paid Life InsuranceCompany Paid Shot-Term Disability401k MatchProfit SharingTuition Reimbursement10 Paid HolidaysPTOFree Uniforms with laundry service$2000 Retention BonusEmployee Referral ProgramSafety equipment reimbursementSalary$20-24/HR
