Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Behavioral Health Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/02/2024 Duration: 12 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel Job Description Behavioral Health, RN Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health RN Supervisor, the RN ensures the delivery of patient-centered behavioral health services across San Ysidro Health. The RN maintains a schedule of patient visits for administering injections and providing health education and support. The RN collaborates with psychiatry and therapy providers to triage and respond to behavioral health needs for new and established patients. Provides direct support to providers and medical assistants on site as appropriate. Essential Functions of the Job: Provides direct patient care, monitors medical condition, consults with providers, and provides after care instructions and health education. Screens patients and maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient's medical treatment. Prepares written documents as required by department and profession. Supports crisis management for patients with urgent behavioral health needs via phone triage and in-person visits. Administers medications by all routes. Administers injections for substance use disorder and psychiatric treatment. Per policy, orders specific diagnostic and laboratory tests; reviews patient's history and communicates findings to the provider. Maintains clinic-use and/or patient-use medications and equipment orderly and properly labeled. Assesses supply and equipment needs and maintains adequate stock. Directs the requisition, care, and maintenance of inventory, equipment, and supplies including daily and monthly logs. Follows SYHealth policies and procedures for efficient department operations,reporting requirements, and maintaining quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Attends meetings as required. Integrates internal relations with the clinical staff to continually improve patient satisfaction. Assists in coordination of nursing schedule to ensure RN coverage during all hours of operation and coordination of medical services to all patients, including possible travel and coverage of multiple sites based on need. Will participate in staff development training. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and profession affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends and news. Job Requirements Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree (BSN) Certifications Required: Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure Current driver's license. Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers Experience Preferred: 6 months of clinical RN experience in an outpatient or behavioral health setting Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Ability to read, write and comprehend medical information and terminology. Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written. Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice. Good interpersonal skills. Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job: Daily operations of outpatient medical office. OSHA regulations and safety procedures. Knowledge of current nursing practices with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Knowledge of behavioral health services and diagnoses. Good computer and mathematical computational skills. Equipment Used: Office equipment such as computers, copiers, telephone, fax machines, etc. Medical equipment includes emergency equipment, defibrillator (AED), nebulizer, etc. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Occasionally lifts supplies and equipment. Handles emergencies or crisis. Occasionally subject to multiple calls and inquiries.
