Job Title: Specialist, Quality Engineering Job Code: 17663 Job Location: Cincinnati, OH Schedule: 4/10 Job Description: At Electrodynamics, Inc, we manufacture ruggedized status indicators, elapsed time indicators and event counters to be used in an array of commercial and military applications. As a quality engineer for the organization, you prevent defects in products and ensure that the processes used to design, test, and produce products are effective and comply with industry and company standards. Optimally, a quality engineer can work cross-functionally to identify and resolve production issues and ultimately increase operator throughput. Within this role, it is essential to be someone that is respectful and collaborative with both operators and the engineering team. It is optimal to be an individual who is curios and eager to assist in problem solving efforts. Lastly, it is important to have worked in a manufacturing environment previously to share new ideas and systems that could aid in development of new products and changes within the production lines. Essential Functions: Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into sub-assemblies or finished products. Creates product first article package with all assemblies and components. Works with the supplier quality engineer to review inspection plans, process approval documents, first article inspections. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to establish quality standards and to design quality-oriented procedures. Conduct root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Review and enhance existing testing methods and implement new testing procedures as needed. Prepare and maintain necessary documentation, including standard inspection procedures and quality reports. Train and guide production staff on quality control issues and work with team members to develop a culture of quality. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Manage non-conforming materials review and disposition process. Ability to conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations. Performs failure analysis on customer returns and writes failure analysis reports. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar. Ability to be trained and certified to perform source inspection for customers. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodology preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other departments to achieve quality objectives. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with quality management software systems. Must be a US Citizen Preferred Additional Skills: Proficient in the use of quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Action processes. Knowledge and experience working with military standards/specifications.
