Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent speaking, sitting, and walking. Repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers. Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places. Occasional bending, carrying, lifting, pushing, climbing, crawling and reaching.REPORTS TO: Head CustodianWORKS WITH: Business Manager, Superintendent, Building Principals, Maintenance PersonESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.Performs minor repair maintenance. Operates heating, AC, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems. Operations will be limited to turning equipment on/off and/or setting day/night cycles. Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, building and site.Shovels, plows, and/or sands sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.Sweeps hallways, classrooms daily and dusts furniture and lockers.Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.Keeps the grounds free of rubbish/garbage.Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.Cleans all chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a week.Reports major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian or maintenance person.Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.Carry out scheduled cleaning duties and preventive maintenance on all buildings and building equipment.Follows recommended and established cleaning procedures in assigned areas of responsibilities.Be available to assist in other areas and other custodians as needed.Follow established safety procedures at all times.Works a revised schedule during emergency periods and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities with other custodial staff.Other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS:A. Inside and OutsideClimatic Environment - Occasionally subjected to extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards - Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards, vibrations. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes and dust. Caution necessary to avoid harm from misuse of chemicals.D. Work Year - This position is for a contract year. Duties of the position are performed between July 1st and June 30th.
