SummaryAssists in the development, implementation and function of a thoracic oncology multi-disciplinary clinic. Interacts with physicians and ancillary personnel across several disciplines including surgical, medical and radiation oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, interventional radiology and genetic counseling. Duties include initial screening patient history and physical examination, family history, coordination of required imaging and diagnostic procedures, overall coordination of the multi-disciplinary clinic and follow-up care. Provides oncology services including: support at diagnosis, patient education, and coordination of care. Offers support groups for patients, families, and significant others. Coordinates appropriate referrals and markets services to community. Performs other duties as assigned.Responsibilities* Initiates patient contact upon obtaining referral from physicians.* Coordinates access to services and education for the cancer patient.* Participates in activities to improve health care delivery.* Provides patient, family, and/or staff teaching/education.* Coordinates marketing of cancer services.* Provides leadership.* Participates in ongoing educational activities.* Completes assigned goals.Requirements, Preferences and ExperienceEducation Minimum: BSN requiredExperience Minimum: 3 years clinical nursing practice in oncology nursing required.
