Provides guidance and training to subordinate phlebotomist. This job profile may require call subject to the department's discretion.Education & ExperienceMeet the educational and experience requirements for certification as a phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency.Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Current phlebotomist certification from a nationally recognized board/agency: ASCP; or CVAS-Certified Venous Access Specialist; or ASPT-American Society Phlebotomist Technician; or NHA-National Healthcareer Association; or NCCT-Phlebotomy National Center for Competency Testing; or ACA-American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals; or Medical2; or NPA-National Phlebotomy Association; or Phlebotomy Technician from MedCA, or Becksford, or AMT-American Medical Technologists, or NPS-National Performance Specialist certifications Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of blood processing and handling procedures. Knowledge of relevant clinical and patient care regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Knowledge of infection control and sterile procedures. Interpersonal skills to allay pay patient fears and interact with staff. Ability to perform standard phlebotomy procedures and techniques.
