Explore your next role:
As a key member of the Accessory Shop NDT Division, the NDT Assistant Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the NDT division. This includes ensuring NDT staff are setting up and calibrating equipment, performing non-destructive tests, conducting evaluations of testing and/or inspections, and maintaining results in compliance with legislated industry codes, standards, and procedures.
Your responsibilities
- Coordinate and organize resources to ensure outstanding work will be completed in the required time frame.
- Provide direction, mentorship, and training to staff.
- Work with Customers to ensure the repairs are planned, scheduled, to meet expectations.
- Work with Vendors to ensure repairs and supplies meet expectations.
- Foster growth and direct change to increase capacity, capabilities, and personal development.
- Ensure quality procedures and policies are being followed to ensure a safe workplace and airworthy product.
- Provide Quality checks and audits to ensure process are followed and work is being completed within the expected parameters.
- Complete, evaluate, and examine the financial reporting, estimates and invoicing of the NDT Shop.
- Actively participate in Voyageur’s Safety Management System including reporting hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations.
- Communicate and work closely with internal and external stakeholders about test results, work priorities, repair requirements, and progress of projects.
- Develop relationships with new customers for opportunities of future work.
- Set up and calibrate equipment to conduct non-destructive tests according to the material type, thickness, distance from test equipment, and other related variables, while using standard formulas.
- Conduct tests on parts, structures, and other materials using non-destructive techniques ensuring all established procedures are followed.
- Perform additional tests if the initial results are inconclusive.
- Maintain all NDT equipment by conducting systems performance checks in accordance with manufacturer and industry recommendations.
- Identify manufacturing defects or other hidden flaws in test equipment or materials being used such as cracks, metal fatigue, defects in welds and joints that may weaken materials or cause fatigue damage.
- Prepare written reports outlining findings and conclusions including design drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and prepared in compliance with customer, industry, and company standards.
Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:
- Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 certification in NDT methods, Eddy Current Testing (ET), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) are required.
- National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410 Level 2 qualifications will be considered. The employee in this role will be expected to obtain CGSB qualifications.
- Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 certification in NDT methods (Ultrasonic Testing (UT). are considered an asset.
- Excellent level technical knowledge and understanding of NDT techniques, services and procedures.
- Excellent level understanding of NDT industry codes, regulations and practices.
- Clear understanding of technical understanding of Aircraft Component Maintenance programs.
- Good financial management, budgeting, and vendor management skills.
- Advance level skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

- You will work out of our North Bay head office.
